English Language Arts Tools

Want to speed up your reading?

The best way to get faster is to be exposed to words more. Your brain gets used to their length, vowel patterns, and how they are used in sentences just by seeing them used. It’s easy!

  1. Read more- anything and everything will build your Lexile.

  2. Add the subtitles to YouTube videos or television shows.

  3. Memorize Fry Words—these are some of the most common words in all English texts. Some may be too easy for you, but they go all the way up to some pretty complex vocabulary on level 10. Visit                                       for a free list and resources. If you learn the first 300 words, you can read 65% of any text!
